website is gone and not able to log in

    Hello. I have not accessed a particular website on wordpress for many years. I tried to log in today and am getting the message: ‘Error establishing a database connection’ I was able to find the complete website on the Wayback Machine but it is gone from WordPress. (The domain is still registered.) Why did the website disappear? How would I be able to retrieve the website contents and log in again?

    This site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress software at another hosting provider. This is a bit different to a site hosted on WordPress.com. You can read about these differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    For help accessing this site – you would need to reach out to the hosting provider.
