  hi we have lost our domain gracepaleg.com.au in the last 2 weeks adn are trying to get it back. can we go live then with an alternative domain then map it back later iiion once/if we gain controll of the domain?

  That domain is registered and hosted by GoDaddy. This means that it is not using our version of WordPress.com managed hosting. Instead it was using the open source software called WordPress.org. You’ll want to talk with GoDaddy about the domain expiration.

  I should have included that the new site is using wordpress.com and The other website is someone else’s who had taken over the domain as it had expired.

  Yes. You can either use the free address (gracepaleg.wordpress.com) or use a custom domain until you’ll find a way to get your old domain back.
