Website looks funny when viewed on a tablet

My blog/website looks fine when viewed on a desktop and a smartphone. For some reason, since my last few posts, it doesn’t look right when viewed on a tablet. It’s very small and scrunched to the left. I didn’t make any changes so I don’t know how to fix it.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The mobile ready theme is a default theme and a completely different theme that you do not need to enable, if your theme is listed as a responsive layout theme here https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/responsive-layout/

The mobile default theme is provided for those who run older themes that aren’t the gold standard which is responsive layout.

A responsive layout theme adapts to different screen sizes so that your website will work (and be optimized for) iPhones, iPads, Android and other mobile devices. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.

When we use a responsive theme we disable the mobile theme. Go to >Dashboard > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme

    http:/NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=mobile-options

    * Replace NAME_OF_BLOG withe the actual name of your blog in that URL.

You can read more in the support docs at https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/mobile-themes/

You can test your site at this link https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/

If none of that is helpful then I apologize and advise you to seek Staff help. Please post this specific info here:
    (a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
    (b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/

Your site has a retired theme and themes are retired when they no longer support all wordpress.COM features. The recommendation is to switch to a more recent theme.

Fore examples See 56 White + Light + Two Columns + Left Sidebar + Responsive Layout WordPress Themes https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/two-columns+responsive-layout+left-sidebar+white+light/re: switching themes

Note that switching themes https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes can be easily done, provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the site. Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do a lot of work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme with different features and/or if you have done any CSS editing.

Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.

The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.

Thank you for your great response! I guess it’s time to think about updating my theme… something that I had considered (but was a little wary of doing) for a while. It looks pretty straightforward… hopefully my site won’t blow up :)
