website made on cargocollective.com with a custom url bought on wordpress.com?

I have purchased a domain “renderji.com” from wordpress.com.
I have a website created on cargocollective.com which I would like to point to renderji.com, but cannot acomplish this. I have tried everithing I could find on the web. The thing is, cargocollective does not use nameservers, and wordpress.com does no let me edit the DNS zone file.

Hi there,
Unfortunately, we do not support the creation of custom zone records such as those you require in order to have your custom domain work with cargocollective.com.
For this, you will need to transfer to a full service domain registrar (GoDaddy or similar) where you will easily be able to set these records. This guide explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar, including how to access the authorization (EPP) code:

well, this is a bummer. I did not think it could be a problem, and today, the day I was supposed to launch my site I am told I wil have to wait 5-7 days for the domain transfer.
I also feel a little bad because I just renewed the domain subscription a month ago, and now the last 11 months will go to waste if I transfer, if I get this correct… Is there a way to get the money back for this 11 months?
