Website Migration
-
Hi, we are looking for a new website host that can host our wordpress website with a Shopify integration to see products. Do you guys have any suggestions of which hosts work best for these types of websites?

Hi there,
You’re posting in the support forums for the hosting provider, WordPress.com. If you’re perhaps looking for support for the open source WordPress software, those forums are at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/, and the best place for advice on WordPress hosting options.
That said, Shopify is a hosted ecommerce platform, in other words, if you create a store at Shopify, they already host it for you. If you then go and integrate that store into a WordPress site, it means you’re paying Shopify for hosting, and you’re paying another provider to host the WordPress site, so you’re paying double for one site.
There are certainly valid use-cases for that, like if you want the site to be more than just an online store, and you need functionality for the non-store parts of the site that can’t be done on Shopify and need WordPress plugins instead.
But in that case I’d recommend rather going with an ecommerce option designed specifically for WordPress, like WooCommerce. That way your store is part of the site itself, managed from the same dashboard, styled by the same theme, etc. If you integrate a Shopify store into a WordPress site, you’re forcing together two tools that weren’t designed to be used together – it might work, but it won’t work well.
If you’d like to consider using WooCommerce instead, you can host that right here with us on WordPress.com – our hosting setup is specifically designed to work with WooCommerce, as WordPress.com and WooCommerce belong to the same company. That also means the live chat support included in our Pro plan also includes support for WooCommerce itself.
