Its epicteenimages.com, we recently LLC’d our biz and need to align all “sections” under this name. So I want to change it to Amber J Teens .com

Hi there,
It is not possible to change a custom domain, so you will need to register the new domain and connect it to your WordPress.com site, epicteenimages.wordpress.com, instead. This won’t affect your followers in any way. They will just see a new address in their browsers when they visit your site. It might be a good idea to publish a post on your site warning them that an address change is coming, just so they don’t wonder about suddenly getting notifications from an unknown site.
Your domain, epicteenimages.com, is expiring in two months, but it is also set to automatically renew at the end of January. If you are absolutely sure you’re not going to use that domain any more you can cancel it, but please be aware that you might never be able to use it again if you do that. Once we cancel a domain, we have no control over if it ever becomes available again.
Note that you can also keep using that domain and leave it connected to the site. Visitors to the site will only see the new domain in their browsers, but both domains will take people to your site, which means old links to your current domain will keep working.
You can change the free WordPress.com URL as well, but that’s not really necessary as visitors will never see that address.
Then I noticed your domain swoodstudios.com expired 20 days ago and is currently in the redemption period. If you still want to use that domain, please renew it immediately via the Purchases page before you lose it completely:
https://wordpress.com/purchasesIf you don’t want it anymore, I can cancel it for you, but what I said above about cancelling a domain still applies. Please confirm if you want to cancel that domain completely instead of renewing it.

Dear Happiness Engineer! I am so baffled by this I just don’t understand any of it…is there any way I could please please please speak to a real live human on the phone??? Shelly [redacted] EST I’d hate to scrap them both and just start over which is what this is sounding like I will need to do???
-
What exactly is it you don’t understand?
There is no need to start over. Just register the new domain, and either cancel or keep the old one. Everything will keep working either way.
If you cancel the old one, keep in mind old links where other people linked to your site will stop working.
You also run the risk of never being able to register the old domain again, so only cancel it if you are very sure you no longer need it.
We do not provide phone support, but if you go to the Contact Us page you might be able to start a live chat with someone.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/On that page, type anything in the search box, and then click the Get in Touch button that appears. If someone is available for chat that will open the chat window for you so someone can help you in real time.
If, instead, it opens an email form, you can try again a little later to get someone on chat.
I’m also happy to keep helping you here, but I need to know exactly what it is you’re struggling with in order to give you that help.
-
Ok, thank you so much. I thought I did try the live chat and that’s what brought me here?? I don’t understand the new link thing because that’s what I tried from googling it a couple years ago when I started the epic teen page from the Shelly wood photography page. But its never done what I wanted so I jist gave up. So, if I create a whole new URL, how exactly do I link them and will new users just see the new site and what happens to the old? Does it just lay dormant? Or will people be able to see the content??? I guess I don’t understand how that works? I want the page exactly as it is, or the site rather …I just need the new name and URL. Everything else can stay exactly as is. Nothing is changing other than the name. Would it be easier to just change the physical name and update the header name but leave the URL alone or is that silly? I guess we could do that??? We have a main landing pages so I guess they would never really see the URL. Yikes! I just don’t know how to set it up. As to Shelly Wood Photography site I’m not sure what to do with it…I don’t really want it totally gone but I don’t really use either. In your professional opinion which is better…to shut it down? I’ve heard an inactive site is worse than no site. Or I could put occasional stuff pointing readers to our new spots??? Thoughts?? I did want to completely delete the personal photog blog because I never ever use that but every time I’ve tried to cancel it a scary message comes up that makes me think all my stuff will disappear! Lol I’m just not brave enough to hit the button! Thank you for your help and I’m sorry I just don’t get this stuff…

So, if I create a whole new URL, how exactly do I link them and will new users just see the new site and what happens to the old? Does it just lay dormant? Or will people be able to see the content?
Your content is at epicteenimages.wordpress.com. The domain, epicteenimages.com, is just a label you put over that free address. Changing the label does nothing to the content on the site. So you can cancel epicteenimages.com and buy a different domain, and all that will change is the label visitors see when they visit your site.
Note, it’s not possible to edit the label (domain). So you will need to buy a new one if you no longer want the old one.
You can also keep both domains, so both will work, but visitors will only see the one you pick to be the visible label for your site.
Would it be easier to just change the physical name and update the header name but leave the URL alone or is that silly?
You can change the custom domain which is, as I said, just a label. Leave the free address, epicteenimages.wordpress.com, alone. No one will ever see that, as the label (custom domain) is covering that, so you don’t need to change it.
As to Shelly Wood Photography site I’m not sure what to do with it…I don’t really want it totally gone but I don’t really use either. In your professional opinion which is better…to shut it down?
Once again, your content at the free WordPress.com address isn’t going anywhere. It’s only the label that’s expiring. If you don’t want to use that special label anymore, you can cancel it and just keep the free site.
I did want to completely delete the personal photog blog because I never ever use that but every time I’ve tried to cancel it a scary message comes up that makes me think all my stuff will disappear!
Well, yes. If you delete the free site, it will delete everything on it and there’s no way to get it back. If you don’t want the site visible, but you don’t want to delete it either, you can set it to private. Then only you can see it.
-
Awesome! You are now speaking my language! lol Ok, so lets work backwards for this one.
My photogblog, I do want to delete, but I just messed with it again and it said everything would be gone for good and it looked like it was also canceling the other two sites (domains) and that’s what is scaring me and keeping me from doing it. I want to make sure I am just deleting that one domain and not the other two. Can you please direct me??
As for SWoodStudios, Id love to just leave the free one (wordpress.com) but not have the paid version. Please tell me how to do this???
Last but not least, I love the idea of leaving the Epic Teen.wordpress.com but purchasing another domain over the top of it as AmberJTeens.com. Please advise on how to do that???
Thank you so so much for your patience and help!! -

Which site is your photoblog? https://swoodstudiosblog.wordpress.com/ ? As that site doesn’t have any upgrades, you can go ahead and delete it. It will delete only that site. You can find the option on this page:
https://wordpress.com/settings/general/swoodstudiosblog.wordpress.com/As for SWoodStudios, Id love to just leave the free one (wordpress.com) but not have the paid version. Please tell me how to do this?
Simply confirm that you want to cancel the domain, swoodstudios.com, and that you’re sure you no longer want to use it, and I can take care of it for you.
Last but not least, I love the idea of leaving the Epic Teen.wordpress.com but purchasing another domain over the top of it as AmberJTeens.com. Please advise on how to do that?
Simply go to the following link and add the new domain:
https://wordpress.com/domains/add/epicteenimages.wordpress.comIf you don’t own the new domain yet, type it in and select Add to register it. If you do own the domain, select the Map It option.
Once you’ve done that, let me know and I’ll explain how to set it as the primary domain, i.e. the label visitors will actually see.
-
Hi Thank you for your patience with me! I think I have most of this figured out, with your help, of course. I followed the link you gave me and got rid of the “photog blog”. Thank you!!
I purchased the Amber j Teens.com Domain and made that primary over epicteenimages.com, I think.
Now, I need to make the epic teen images not a .com but just a free site. Please advise.
Also, I still need to make the swoodstudios not a .com but just a free site as well.Thank you for your help!

Now, I need to make the epic teen images not a .com but just a free site. Please advise.
Your site, epicteenimages.wordpress.com, has two domains:
1) amberjteens.com which you bought yesterday
2) epicteenimages.com which expire in MarchWhat do you mean you want to make it a free site? Do you want to cancel the domains? Do you want to cancel only epicteenimages.com?
I need you to very specifically confirm and tell me you want to cancel [name of domain], as this is not something we can reverse once done.
Also, I still need to make the swoodstudios not a .com but just a free site as well.
Do you mean you want to cancel the expired domain, swoodstudios.com? Again, I need you to specifically say you want to cancel the domain.
-
Ok, I thought I could purchase Amber J Teens and make that dominant over the epic teen images which could then become a WordPress.com instead of just a .com (meaning its a free site???) I don’t want to lose the content at epic teens but I want people to view it as amber j teens instead…does that make sense?
As for the swoodstudios, again I want the content but I don’t need it to be a .com anymore, just a WordPress.com is fine.
I’m not sire I am wording any of this correctly. Also I was hoping to buy a “testimonial” plug in for WordPress that would go on the amber j teens site. Would you be able to help me install it correctly? Lol I know, one thing at a time! 😉 -

I have cancelled swoodstudios.com, so that site is now only https://swoodstudios.wordpress.com/

It doesn’t make sense, no. You just bought amberjteens.com a day ago, and now you say you want that to be a free site, which would mean you cancel that domain again.
Unless you refer to the specific domains and say exactly what you want I can’t help you any further.
-
Hi! Gosh, nope, I didn’t make sense..
First, Thank you for the SWoodStudios! That is perfect! For the Epic Teen/Amber J Teen, you and I had said from about 5 posts up:Me: “Last but not least, I love the idea of leaving the Epic Teen.wordpress.com but purchasing another domain over the top of it as AmberJTeens.com. Please advise on how to do that?”
You: “Simply go to the following link and add the new domain: https://wordpress.com/domains/add/epicteenimages.wordpress.com
If you don’t own the new domain yet, type it in and select Add to register it. If you do own the domain, select the Map It option.

So I did that, I bought Amber J Teens so it could be made primary. but does that mean the epic teens has to remain a .com and be a “paid” name or can it go back to just being a wordpress.com and still hold all the old content and be “linked”?? if thats the right word? While going forward I would give new followers the Amber J Teens site? So old content and viewers would see the new and old stuff? Gosh, Im confusing myself…
-
but does that mean the epic teens has to remain a .com and be a “paid” name or can it go back to just being a wordpress.com and still hold all the old content and be “linked”?
You can cancel epicteens.com, but the site won’t go back to epicteens.wordpress.com, because it still has amberjteens.com on it.
So if you cancel epicteens.com, you’ll only be paying for amberjteens.com on that site. Your content won’t be affected in any way as it’s not moving, we’re just changing the label on the site.
Do you want to cancel epicteens.com?
-
Ooohhhh!!! That makes total sense! Can I ask your advise then, you had mentioned before putting notice on epic teens to make folks aware of the name change. Should I do that and give them the Amberj teen site to make them aware for a little while before canceling the epic teens and only having the amber j? I’m thinking especially for the moms and teens who are on that site?? Thank you for all of your help!!!!
