Website not responding properly to the changes made

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi There,

I am trying to rebuild my website using a New Theme, but from when Ive changed it, everything is creating problems. My home page is always different when I am on the editing page, from when Im on the actual saved ‘finished’ page. I really don’t understand. Also other pages and the menu bar keeps changing.

It seems like the website is not responding to the changes I make, and it does what it wants. Also the look on mobile screens is not what it should be, very frustrating!

Do you know if the website needs an update or something? I really don’t know what to do. I even got the premium plan with the hope that it would respond better, but absolutely not.

    Thank You,

    Cristiana

  • Hi Cristiana –

Thanks for writing to us. I’ll be happy to help you with this project. It’s obvious that this is an important for you to have a solid online representation of your art online. You are in good hands! Which theme are you having these problems on?

A few notes after reviewing things on my end. The mobile site is functioning fine on my devices and I can see each section of art lists out the different pieces from that section with their prices. Would you like for folks to be able to buy them directly from those pages?

For example, when I am on https://cristianacanzanese.com/quadri-materici/ I would be able to click on the title or price of a piece and purchase it directly. There are options to do this with your current hosting plan.

When you say the mobile view isn’t right, I can’t see an obvious problem. Please explain in more details so we can help.

It does sound like a problem consistent with network or connection issues. Please try to work through these steps to rule that out as the problem.

Content will help drive your SEO. The more material that Google can pick up on, the better you will perform in SEO. For that reason, I’d suggest adding a small blog section on the page. It doesn’t have to be elaborate long form writing. If you can commit to posting something small 2x a week though, that will help your traffic and bring more people to your site. This could even be some auto posting from another social media platform that publish on your blog directly. Let’s work smarter not harder ;)

On the contact page I can see your email address is a gmail one. I’d suggest getting a custom email solution set up to button up the neatness of your communication with potential customers and clients.

  • Apologies, realizing now I forgot to include the link to the ecommerce options for selling these works directly.

    Hi Zinnia,

Thank you so much for all your suggestions and help, I will look into it.

From when Ive changed again the theme, at the moment I am using BYRNE, the site seems to respond much better than before, maybe some Themes were not that compatible.

Unfortunately, I am still encountering issues though. Ive followed all your advices to clear history and cache, etc. it’s much better but if you look and compare the two pages ‘Quadri Materici’ and ‘Paintings’ on a computer screen the photographs are much smaller on the ‘Paintings’ page, and also the typography is different.

I have used exactly the same page template from the adding page options and procedure, but still the result is different. While using the editor it looks the same, but once saved the result is different. I don’t really understand how this is possible.

I would really appreciate if you could help me with this.

    Thank you for your help,

    Cristiana

  • Hi Cristiana,

Unfortunately, I am still encountering issues though. Ive followed all your advices to clear history and cache, etc. it’s much better but if you look and compare the two pages ‘Quadri Materici’ and ‘Paintings’ on a computer screen the photographs are much smaller on the ‘Paintings’ page, and also the typography is different.

Can you take a look at the List View for each of those pages? I can see one page is using Columns, while the other uses full-width groups that are then set in columns:

    WP
WordPress Editor » Use List View

List View is an indispensable feature of the WordPress editor that makes it easy for you to work with the blocks on your site. This guide will show you how to make the most of List View. Video Tutorial Access List View To access List View, click the icon that looks like three horizontal lines above each other at the top left corner of the editor: Opening List View Select a B

So they are fairly different templates.

Do you want the paintings page to have full-width columns like Quadri Materici, or are you trying to make Quadri Materici look more like the paintings page?

I think most of this can be managed by setting the “width” for the column (or group) block, using the block toolbar. You can make them full width if you’d like.

    WP
Blocks (The Full List) » Group Block
    5 min read
The Group block brings together other blocks inside one container so that you can set a background color, adjust spacing, and organize different sections of a page. This guide will explain how to use the Group block on your site. Create a Group There are multiple ways to group blocks together: Add a Group Block To add an empty Group block, click the + block inserter button and search

If you want Quadri Materici to look just like the Paintings page, ungrouping may make more sense.
