Website offline since expiration Premium account
-
Hello,
Last week my Premium account expired (http://bisesdeparis.com) I didn’t apply for a renewal as I am not very active on this blog anymore and I’d rather start a new one. However, I would like to continue a free account (http://bisesdeparis.wordpress.com) so my content still remains available online. Instead, to my great surprise the blog seems to be completely offline. Could you please help switch me back to my free, basic account?
Thank you very much!

Hey Julia aka bisesdeparis!
There is information on cancelling that you can findhere. To quote:
How can I cancel my plan?
You can cancel your plan via Purchases. Click the button to Cancel below the plan details. Follow the prompts to cancel your plan, and be sure to check your email for a link to confirm your cancellation. -
Dear Eallas,
Thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I do not see a Cancel butten, only an option ‘Renew now’ and ‘Remove bisesdeparis.com’. None of them seem appropriate to me. I’m happy to send a screen shot if this is possible in any way.I see 2 options in domain registration (18 EUR) and Private Registration (8 EUR). What is the difference between both of them?

I think I understand what’s happening now, I apologize.
So, your account already expired as you had said. This means that it should default back to bisesdeparis.wordpress.com. If not, you can make sure it is set as the primary domain at https://wordpress.com/domains/manage. Hopefully setting it at the primary domain helps.

My problem is a little bit different and may be fixed in time but I’m new to this. I canceled my premium membership but the explanation, included with the amount to be refunded, stated that my domain should remain the same. The site was accessible last night but is no longer accessible this morning. Why?

@torebuildyou
Please click this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1 and start your own thread. -
@bisesdeparis I can help you with that.
Just to clarify, if you want to cancel your domain bisesdeparis.com it can take up to several weeks for our domain registrar to release the domain, and it may not choose to do so. We can’t guarantee that your domain will ever be available to you again once canceled. If you have any intention of using bisesdeparis.com again in the future, I suggest that you do not choose to cancel.
Please confirm that you understand and want to cancel your domain. Once you have done so, I will cancel it and remove the upgrade from your account.
Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

@eallas, thank you that seems like the right page!
staff-ozmodiar, yes clear now thank you. It would be helpful if the options would be clearer before the expiration date. I was offered a prolongation of my premium account at 99€ per year, which is too expensive/not relevant to me. It was only through this discussion that I found out that I could pay for domain registration only, and I would have been happy to have paid the 26€ for that. Is this still an option? If yes I would be interested in keeping the domain.
Thanks again for your help.

If you wish to renew just your domain, I should be able to help you with that.
Are you given that option when you go here:
-
I am given the option under this link: https://wordpress.com/checkout/44100042/personal but the price suddenly has gone up to €35.88. I think I will leave it for now, but thanks!
-
I’m not sure why that is happening, but if you like, I can help you get it renewed for the standard domain pricing.
-
That’s very kind thanks, but in the meantime I have posted a blog saying I’m back to my old URL ;)
Thanks also for your help in general, it’s nice to see such a great support community behind the system!
