website pictures not showing

  • Unknown's avatar

When others go to my website, they don’t see the background or header picture properly, and I can’t figure out why. It’s fine on my comp and mobile, but they don’t pop up on anybody else’s. Help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The header image is too wide, it’s downsized to fit, and it takes too long to load. You should use an image editing application or an online tool to downsize it to the exact pixel width the theme specifies, then set that version as your header image.

The sourcecode of your page says that the bg image is this:
    http://jacquelinemfreire.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/img_20130522_130203.jpg
But this gives a 404 (not found) response. How come the image URL is from a different blog?

Okay, I’ll check the specifications for the header image, and I’m not sure why the url is from a different blog on my bg image. I did take it from my instagram account, could that be it?

But now I’ve used a different web-browser to make edits, and apparently now the pictures are showing. Before I was using srware but then I switched to Mozilla for the edits and now it’s up. Was that the main thing, the web browser??

Thanks so much for your help!

    You’re welcome.
No, it couldn’t have been the browser. You cannot insert a bg image to the blog if the image isn’t uploaded to the same blog, except via CSS editing. Do you have the Custom Design upgrade?

No, I’m poor. But I have the bg pic on my computer and uploaded it again through Mozilla onto my media library and now apparently it can be seen by others. But I’ll have to double check the dimensions anyway to make sure I get the size I would like.

Yes yes, the bg image showed up (because you uploaded a new one).

But in Appearance > Background there’s no option for adding a bg image via URL, so if you don’t have the upgrade I don’t understand how you could have added the previous image. Had you changed the URLs of your blogs?
