Website Problem from Beginner
-
I set up WP on my own domain and server. It is working fine there. But, I couldn’t locate the API key anywhere. I read that I needed to create a WP account.
So I went to the WP homepage and made one. But now, I have a http://www.myname.wordpress.com blog and also myname.com/blog
I don’t want to have the myname.wordpress.com account showing up in search engines. What can I do? (I only want the mydomain.com/blog one to show up for now)
Thank you.

Have you tried setting the blog to become “private”?
=> Dashboard => Options => PrivacyPrivacy Options
Blog visibility:
__I would like my blog to appear in search engines like Google and Sphere, and in public listings around WordPress.com.
__ I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors
__ I would like my blog to be visible only to users I chooseMake your change and then click “update Options” to save.

When you created an account, there was an option to just create the account and leave off the blog. That’s what you should have choosen. You can delete your blog is you want. The key will remain active since your user account will remain.
And a friendly reminder that using the ‘www’ bit in teh URL like you do is incorrect. The ‘myname’ takes the place of it. They can not coexist, breaks for 30% of the folks on the net and most search engine spiders will have issues with it as well.
