I have a website domain through GoDaddy, last week trying to update the website I accidentally clicked the wrong thing and now the website is trying to link to WordPress.com. How do I do a reversal of this?

  • Hi,

What is the URL of the site you are trying to access? We’ll be happy to take a look and see if we can help.

URL is rainierplastics.com , but when go to our URL this is what shows up https://wordpress.com/typo/?subdomain=rainierplastics

  • Hi ksisson12, so I think we may have two issues here:

    1. You might not have a site on our servers yet

    2. Ideally, you’d want to connect the domain properly once you do have a site here.

This particular account doesn’t have any WordPress.com sites associated with it, and rainierplastics.wordpress.com doesn’t exist yet. So let’s deal with that part first.

Do you want to go ahead and register that, or is there any chance you already have it set up through another account and a different URL?

Also, I do want to clarify that WordPress.com a hosting service, which is separate from a free copy of WordPress you might host with another hosting service. We have more info on that here. If you’re using your own WordPress installation, you’ll want to work with your host to ensure it’s properly connected there, and make sure your WordPress site settings show the correct, new address.

    Hi,
We never made a website through WordPresss.com. In GoDaddy we were trying to do edits and thought it was maybe under WordPress, now every time we try to Google the site it says wordpress.com and rainier plastics does not exists. We don’t want to register, we have it set up through another company and want the changes reverted.

  • There’s nothing on our end that is doing this. Somehow rainierplastics.com is being set to forward to rainierplastics.WordPress.com (which does not exist). You will need to talk to GoDaddy and ask them why that is happening.

It is not possible for it to be happening from our end because the domain is not registered with us. So we have no connection to any of the settings.
