I am trying to set up a subscription for my viewers. I have the subscription link working, but no one is getting my emails like they should be. Why is this?
Second, each post is supposed to have a featured image option. This option is not showing up prior to publishing. It isn’t until afterwards where it shows up and I have to manually go in and edit it. Is there a reason for this?

Issue 1: Subscription Emails Not Being Sent
It sounds like you have the subscription link working, but users aren’t receiving emails when they subscribe. Here’s how to troubleshoot:
Step 1: Verify Subscription Settings
- Log into your WordPress dashboard.
- Go to Jetpack (if you’re using Jetpack for subscriptions) or Plugins > Installed Plugins if you’re using a different plugin.
- Check your subscription settings:
- If using Jetpack, go to Jetpack > Settings > Discussion and make sure “Follow Blog” and “Follow Comments” are enabled.
- If using another plugin (like MailPoet or Newsletter), check their settings for email delivery.
Step 2: Check Email Delivery Settings
- Some WordPress.com-hosted sites rely on Jetpack for email subscriptions.
- If you’re using a plugin, go to Settings > Email (or the plugin settings) and see if emails are being logged or if there are any errors.
Step 3: Check the Spam Folder
- Ask your subscribers to check their spam/junk folders.
- Sometimes, emails get flagged as spam. If so, they should mark them as “Not Spam” to help future emails land in their inbox.
Step 4: Test the Email System
- If you’re using Jetpack Subscriptions, create a test email.
- Subscribe with a test email address and see if you receive the email.
- If not, try switching to an SMTP plugin like WP Mail SMTP to improve email deliverability.
Issue 2: Featured Image Option Not Showing Before Publishing
This issue is unusual. Normally, the Featured Image option should appear before publishing. Here are some possible reasons and fixes:
Step 1: Check If Featured Images Are Enabled
- Go to your WordPress dashboard.
- Open a new or existing post.
- Click on Screen Options (top-right corner).
- Ensure “Featured Image” is checked.
Step 2: Switch to a Default WordPress Theme
If your theme is customized or doesn’t fully support featured images, try switching to a default theme:
- Go to Appearance > Themes.
- Activate a default theme.
- Open a new post and check if the Featured Image option appears before publishing.
Step 3: Check for Plugin Conflicts
Some plugins may interfere with the featured image display.
- Deactivate all plugins under Plugins > Installed Plugins.
- Refresh your post editor and check if the Featured Image option appears.
- Reactivate plugins one by one to identify the conflicting one.
Step 4: Clear Cache
If you’re using a caching plugin or Cloudflare, clear your cache:
- If you use Jetpack Boost or WP Super Cache, clear the cache from the plugin settings.
- If using Cloudflare, clear the cache from the Cloudflare Dashboard.
Step 5: Use a Different Browser
Sometimes, browser extensions or outdated cookies can cause issues. Try opening your site in:
- Incognito mode
- A different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)
- The topic ‘Website questions’ is closed to new replies.
