Website Recovery

I have recently taken over as the editor-in-chief of an academic journal and I am trying to access our website so I can update it. However I am unable to access the website because I have no idea whose email was used in the creation of it. In the past apparently word press has sent people to host gator which is the site that currently hosts the webpage. While I have the login information for HostGator which is what enables the site to be accessible on the Internet I do not have the access to WordPress which would actually enable me to edit the webpage and the result is that we are currently paying for a website which we are unable to edit which is infuriating to say the least. Is there any way someone can help me access the word press site when I have no information regarding payment details or anything else. All I know for certain is that we pay for the website to be hosted but I can’t edit the content on HostGator. Is it possible that our website on WordPress is free? I don’t have the answer to any of these questions but I’m hoping you guys can help me out. All I know for certain is that we paid for the website to be hosted but I can’t edit the content on HostGator. Apparently the only way to get live support is by giving the support folks the login information but I don’t have any which is the cause of me contacting them in the first place . The web address is virginajournalofcriminallaw.

  • Hi there,

Looks like you’re in the wrong place. It appears that you’re using the self-hosted version of WordPress and you need to ask from your hosting provider (Hostgator) for help with your issue.

These forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org you can read this document:
