  I have a website hosted on galaxy gig, its about 10years old and it looks it.
  I want to build a new wordpress site and use my current domain name, however, while I’m designing it, I want to keep the old website live, so I am looking to build the entire website offline or on another domain and then when its tested and proved to be operational, publish the site on the old domain.
  What is the best way to do this?

  Hi there,

  That is not an issue – what you could do is create a site with a free WordPress.com blog address. You are assigned a .wordpress.com or a .home.blog subdomain whenever you create a site with WordPress.com, so you can just use that as the domain as you build the site and determine whether or not this is the platform you want to use. Once you are done developing the site, you can make the decision to transfer the domain over:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

  map and existing domain:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  Or even creating a new one:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/
