Website Redirect to blog?
-
I have a website/domain hosted by Yahoo! Geocities. I want people to be able to type in my URL and be DIRECTLY taken to my wordpress blog as it currently appears. Any tips?

Your url is: http:// fwdmovie.wordpress.com/
(without the space after the /) so you post it as a link on your Yahoo geocities site and that’s it. -
Huh? You didn’t answer my question. When people go to my domain name (www.flirtingwithdisatsermovie.com) I want them see, AUTOMATICALLY, my blog here on wordpress. I don’t want them to have to click on a link or anything.

We do not have domain mapping on wordpress.com. I believe the only option you have is the one I gave you. And, if I’m wrong the staff will step in and give you further information on this.
Just in case you have wordpress.com confused with wordpress.org, which is for self hosted and web hosted blogs, and is very differnet from this wordpress.com MU (a multi-user platform) I’m giving you this link which is posted in the pink sticky at the head of the forum under the title “Please read first before posting”. I’m giving it to you because it’s possible that a wordpress.org blog could be what you’re really looking for http://wordpress.com/forums/topic.php?id=3700&replies=1

The code is in this thread:
http://wordpress.com/forums/topic.php?id=392&replies=7#post-1821I use this to redirect from my domain to my WP.com site.
(Domain mapping would be cool but WP.com is still great.)

Can you modify the templates at Yahoo Geocites? When I was at Blogger someone told me to place a redirecting code in my template but I couldn’t at that time. Or just place a clickable link on a new post at that site saying where your new site is.

@TT:
No problem. :D@fwdmovie:
Glad you got it working!@nosysnoop:
Not sure. Maybe original poster has regular Yahoo hosting. -
@nosysnoop and eclecticgeek
I was told the same thing at geocities that you were told but I figure that things could have changed in the last 5 months at Yahoo geocties (the spam captial of the cyber world).
So the first good thing is this blogger now has both kinds of instructions and can use either one or the other as the case may be. And the second good thing is that both alternatives are in the same thread and when this thread goes into the forum search box they are even under an appropriate title. Website Redirect to blog? YAY! :) -
Actually, it could also be domain forwarding like kashmir stated above. I have just set up a WP.com blog for a friend who had registered a domain name with Yahoo!. Trying to figure out whether to transfer the domain name or just try domain forwarding through Yahoo!. Thanks kashmir!
