Can WordPress provide the website source file and database file of the theme template?

  • Hi there!

What exactly are you trying to achieve?

    Hi Fresatomica,

We would like to host our website with an external vendor (i.e. site hoster) due to our internal policies and hence would need the aforementioned data.

Would you be able to help please?

    Thank you!

    Best regards,

    Daniel

  • Is this for https://test904592782.wordpress.com/?

WordPress.com is a managed hosting provider, where sites share their core and theme files, and those files are also modified for the particular setup we use here. So it is not possible for us to provide you with a full download of your site’s source files, nor would you be able to use those, as you won’t be able to upload those to another host’s servers and have a working WordPress installation.

The only way to migrate a site away from us is to export your site content only. You can do that by downloading an export file at My Site ->Tools ->Export.

    Export Your Website’s Content

At your new host, you’ll create a completely new WordPress installation and install the theme you want to use. Then you’ll import the file you exported on our end at Tools ->Import in that site’s admin dashboard.

To use the Hever theme you have on your WordPress.com site on the new self-hosted site, you have two options:

The simplest is to install the Jetpack plugin on that site and connect the site to your WordPress.com account. Then you’ll be able to activate the theme via the WordPress.com theme showcase at My Site ->Design ->Themes.

Or if you don’t want to use Jetpack, you can download the theme directly from the link at the bottom of the theme’s page at https://wordpress.com/theme/hever/

Note that Hever is a child theme of Varia, so you’ll need to download both Hever and Varia’s files, and install both on the new site, in order for the theme to work.
