website still on hold after email verification completed

  • Unknown's avatar

Received email to verify email address for domain. Clicked on verify link and got response “Congratulations, your email address is verified” however our site only shows “This page is parked free, courtesy of WordPress.com”.

Domain was registered through WordPress but registrar shows as Wild West Domains.

What needs to be done to restore our website?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I checked and there is no current registration of greendalefirstchurchofchrist.com. We only have a active mapping subscription for the domain.

The domain expired over 43 days ago. Would you like for me to see if we can reclaim the domain?

The WHOIS Database shows our domain is still active and will not expire until 2018-09-28. It was first registered when WordPress was reselling domains for Wild West Domains and they are still the registrar.

The name server for our domain is NS25.DOMAINCONTROL.COM (Wild West) and not NS1.WORDPRESS.COM (WordPress). I have no access to Wild West and must rely on WordPress to resolve this.

The email telling us to verify our domain contact email address came from “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”, which is Wild West/Godaddy, even though they identified themselves as “WordPress.com” in the email. The verification click link also went to Wild West.

While at first the email notice was ignored or missed on our part it was verified on 3/11/18.

As of 3/13/18 our site is still “parked” or “on hold”.

Please, get WordPress and Wild West to straighten this out so our website will be available again.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Hi there,

I have reinstated the registration subscription back to your account and have resent the verification email your way. I no longer see the parked site message after a refresh, so I think things are set – you may need to update the nameservers, however. Let me know if you have any more trouble.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply and for looking into the problem.

Once again I responded to the verification email and once again got a confirmation that the email address for the domain was verified but our website is still not available.

I have no way to update the nameservers. WordPress says they will handle that on our WordPress domain page. Wild West won’t respond to me because the domain was purchased via WordPress and they are supposed to handle all domain issues. I am caught in the middle with no power to resolve the problem.

The nameservers currently resolve our website IP to 50.63.202.75 which is a Wild West/GoDaddy address. This appears to be where our “parked” message is coming from when our website is accessed.

Can you please find someone at WordPress who can contact Wild West and get this resolved? It would really be appreciated.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Hi there,

The domain doesn’t work because it was removed from our systems, not just your account, after it expired. I have emailed our domain provider to try and recover it. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back from them.

Thank you for trying to help. Please let me clarify a couple of points as I understand them.

    1) The domain has NOT expired, as I said at the beginning of this post. It was just pointed away from our content and to a parked / holding page on Wild West Domains website.

    2) The content is still on WordPress. I can view it if I go to https://wordpress.com/view/greendalefirstchurchofchrist.com while logged into our account.

Please correct the Wild West nameserver to point our domain back to our WordPress content. We have verified our domain contact info as requested (several times now).

Please change the Wild West nameserver to point greendalefirstchurchofchrist.com to 192.0.78.24 and 192.0.78.25 as the WordPress nameserver does now and it will work. I have tested and CAN see our content at 192.0.78.24.

Please, please, find someone to work on this who understands domains and nameservers. I am begging you.

Please engineer some happiness for our struggling website.

Thanks for helping to resolve this issue.

The domain was removed from your account because the upgrades on your account expired. The date showing in the Whois lookup is irrelevant. The domain has been removed from our system and we no longer have control over it.

The only way to regain control over it is if our registrar, Wild West Domains, restores it to our system. I have already started that process as stated in my previous reply.

Please correct the Wild West nameserver to point our domain back to our WordPress content. We have verified our domain contact info as requested (several times now).

There is nothing I can do until that domain is restored to our system. That will hopefully be later today.

Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean by

the upgrades on your account expired

Please explain which upgrades expired so we can make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Thanks for your continued help in resolving this issue.

    Hello!

Please explain which upgrades expired so we can make sure it doesn’t happen again.

I’m happy to share that greendalefirstchurchofchrist.com has now been restored. By upgrades, we are referring to records we set up on your account that manage the use of the domain. Without these upgrades, the domain cannot be used properly on your WordPress.com website.

In order for your domain upgrade to be renewed automatically, you will need to add a credit card. You can do so from here:

    Thanks!

    Thank you! Thank you!

I see that our Wild West domain information now points to the WordPress nameservers, and they point to our content, so all is back to the way they were before all of this unpleasantness began.

I will contact our people who handle the domain renewals, etc. to make sure they have a proper credit card on file so things will renew automatically in the future.

    Thanks again.
