Website tag line not appearing next to website name in a google search
-
My tag line ‘Living and raising Young Children in Bristol’ is not appearing in a google search next to my website http://www.bristolmum.com. Instead ‘Smile! You’re at the best WordPress.com site ever’ appears. How can I get my tag line to appear instead? Thanks, Hilary

Hi Hilary,
I just did a Google search for your website, and I see your current tagline. Here’s a screenshot to show you what I see: http://cl.ly/image/0d1T161i261c
It’s possible that Google indexed (saved) a version of your site before you had set your tagline, and that’s what you are seeing your search results. Search engines will eventually update their results, so Google should begin showing the correct tagline to everyone over time.
If you would like more control over how your site appears in search results, you can also use the webmaster tools described on this page: Webmaster Tools
If you have any questions about this, please let me know!

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. However my website seems to have disappeared altogether from Google which I noticed when I did a search yesterday for ‘Bristol Mum’.
A few days ago I did something to help SEO using Webmaster tools but maybe I did something wrong instead.
Please help!

We do a number of things here at WordPress.com to help optimize your website for search engines, but unfortunately we can’t control how search engines rank your site. You can read more about your site and search engines here: Search Engines
If you have specific concerns about your Google ranking, you may want to contact Google or take a look at their information for webmasters here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/
