Hi, I am looking to purchase a theme called STAAG. A friend of mine shared that she use this theme as her website template http://www.thestudioviolin.com. I tried to search for this theme, but couldn’t find it. Please let me know. Thanks.

It does not exist here at wordpress.COM. You are confusing wordpress.COM hosted sites like yours and wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting.
The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes
We cannot:
upload any third party themes,
create child themes,
create our own themes,
edit templates,
create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.There is no FTP access to any wordpress.com sites. See:

Also be keenly aware that you cannot transfer any theme from https://wordpress.com/themes/ which is licensed and adapted to run on WordPress.COM software to a WordPress.ORG site, and visa versa. Hi,
I tried to search it on WordPress.org and seems it does not exist as well. She mentioned she bought it through wordpress and the theme name is STAAG.
I like tht layout of her website. Can you show me which one is similar to her’s?

As timethief mentioned, the STAAG theme is not available for WordPress.com sites.
Your friend has a WordPress.org site, not a WordPress.com site. The differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org are explained here:
On WordPress.org you can install custom themes like STAAG. On WordPress.com you can activate themes from our Theme Showcase:
If you want to use a similar theme on your site, have a look at Harmonic:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/harmonic/
It has full width images and panels similar to those on the STAAG theme.
