Website Update

  • Unknown's avatar

Update certain aspects of my website. I would love to learn. I have spent countless hours reading and I’m not getting to the info I need. Do I have to pay an hourly service fee? I JUST NEED HELP WITH A REAL LIVE PERSON PLEASE, I don’t have time to read community forums. My brain doesn’t comprehend that way, I am a hands on learner, not a read then learn :( :( :( :( ANYONE!!!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you upgrade to the Personal plan you get access to eMail support and live chat support.

But I see your site is still empty. Most new WordPress.com users accept that it is a learning curve and just take a deep breath and jump in. You can post words and images in pages and posts and if you don’t like the look of them you can always delete them. You can experiment with different themes too. When/If you get stuck there’s usually someone here to point you in the right direction.

Thank you. What do you mean when you say “my site is still empty”?
    Thanks

Are you talking about a different site?

I have spent countless hours reading and I’m not getting to the info I need.

    Ask us. :)

    My site is http://www.rainwellness.ca
Is that right? Are you seeing different. Maybe I’m not even in the right place.
    Thank you

Hello again, Indeed, your above site rainwellness.ca isn’t hosted here on WordPressdotcom, so we won’t be able to help you with your site using the standalone WP org software.

Standalone WP and WordPressdotcom are different entities; more information about the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Help for self-hosted sites using the standalone WP software can be found over at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page and at https://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums, you can register one on that page.

Given what you said above, you may want to consider hiring someone to help you with your site. You can list a job at http://jobs.wordpress.net/ Or another option is to take an online WP course at Lynda.com or browse the Beginner tag on WordPress.tv http://wordpress.tv/tag/beginner/

Hope that helps and best wishes.

@ justjennifer *sigh* Why do so many people ask questions but never divulge which site it is they have problems with. In the bathroom at work there is a stating-the-obvious sign “Now wash your hands”. I think WordPress.com needs a stating-the-obvious sign on the front of the forum saying “is your question about a site actually hosted here”?!?

thank you so much “just Jennifer”, Posting a job is exactly what I was looking for. As far as hosting and all the other “stand alone, codex, dot com” language… ya still don’t get that, and honestly don’t want to. Someone had built my site for me and just kept telling me that I can update it through WordPress, then I was abandoned as they left to go and work for WordPress. Happy coding to you all, I appreciate the direction.

@themagicrobot – every day, several times a day. If someone has a jetpack-enabled site, I believe they have access to the Dashboard contact form (as they have to have a WPcom account to use jetpack) and I do wonder if any mention of COM/ORG is made there.

@rainwellness – glad I could point you in the right direction. Sorry to hear you were abandoned by your site developer. Gives all of us a bad name. Best wishes in finding a replacement.

Since this issue is resolved as far as it can be given we are not talking about a site hosted here, I’m going to go ahead and close this thread.

    Cheers!
