  Hello,

  I created a wordpress blog with the url ‘tinkeringsofahufflepuff’ but it was accidentally through my work email. As a result, I deleted the website. When I tried to create the website on my personal account, it added ‘blog’ to the end of ‘tinkeringsofahufflepuff.’ Is there a way to get the original URL back in order to use it on my personal account (rather than the URL ending with blog)?

  Sorry but the answer is not for 2 years from the site deletion date.

  The relevant wordpress.COM support doc is found at http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/.

  Sites already deleted by their authors two or more years ago may become available again, if they present no username or other technical conflicts. Do you see a deleted site https://deletedexample1234.wordpress.com/ with an address you would like to have? You can try registering a new site with that address here. http://wordpress.com/start If it is available, it will be yours.

  Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made except for the one stated here.

  Note that you can purchase a Personal plan and then register your own custom domain.
