Website URL sends me back here
-
I moved my domain to a self hosted website and the URL seems to send me to wordpress.com occasionally instead of the real website. How can I fix this?

Hi there,
This sounds like it could be a browser issue. Could you try clearing your cache and see if that helps? Here is more information about how to do that:

Cheers!

Clearing my cache did not fix the problem. Sometimes it will send me to the correct site sometime not.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear that didn’t help.
Could you include the URL that is malfunctioning as well as your old WP.com blog?Cheers!

Hi there,
I checked and it appears that your domain is pointing both at an external site (your nameservers are set to ns100.whbdns.com, ns101.whbdns.com) – which is what you want for a self-hosted blog – AND it is mapping to your WP.com blog. You want to remove the mapping, and this error should resolve.
If you need help removing it, or want me to just take care of it, please let me know!

Absolutely!
I’ve gone ahead and removed the mapping. It showed me immediately that your site was unmapped, but it may take a few hours for the propagation across the web.
I hope that helps!

Thanks for that. However it seems now there is a different problem, it sometimes sends you back to wordpress.com and gives this message “downthepipe-wh.wordpress.com doesn’t exist”
any ideas?
Thanks so much

I’d recommend clearing your cache again now that we’ve removed the mapping. Can you do that and let me know if you have the issue again?
Cheers!
