Website vs Blog

What is the difference between a blog page and a website?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Semantics and site structure are the answers.
A blog is a website.
A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.
What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds, and as others do not backlink to pages, it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.
Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

Hi there and Happy Thanksgiving everyone. This may seem as like a ridiculous question (and the answer may seem obvious to most of you) but what is the difference between a blog page and a website? I am trying to decide what form would be better for my nutrition counselling online business.
Thanks in advance!

It’s my well considered opinion based on over 10 years of blogging that setting a static front page is a traffic killer. Your returning visitors are returning to read your most recent posts and if they have to click through the same page every time just to find your latest post that can become annoying and some may unsubscribe.

Yes! However, I had difficulties with customizing it. I thought of a blog for my nutrition counselling online business. Then I thought, perhaps a website would be more fitting. Unfortunately, I came to realise that I had no idea what is the difference between the two … hence my question.
I’m not sure what would be the best format, to be honest. Would a website with a blog page be more appropriate??

That makes sense. Sorry, I am very new to this. I’ve had an idea though: would it be possible to create a website with a front page that shows the latest blog? Can that be done?
In your experience what would be the best format for a nutrition counselling business? Website or Blog

Yes, of course you can. That is the way a blog is designed so if you do not set a static front page then that is what you get.
