Website won't display ("can't reach this page")
-
I have had my website hosted through wordpress.com and the domain name via GoDaddy for years with no issues. Within the last 1-2 months my website won’t display. When the url is typed in (from multiple computers) the page comes up blank with a message saying “Hmm, we can’t reach this page.” I’ve cleared caches/searches. I have talked with GoDaddy twice, my domain name account is paid, current and active. GoDaddy says the “DNS isn’t matching up”, the domain is pointing to the WordPress site, and that the issue is with WordPress. Any ideas? Thank you much.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Everything seems fine as far as expiry and nameservers, but trying to ping the domain and it doesn’t seem to exist at all. There’s a configuration issue somewhere.
I’m tagging this post for the staff’s attention. I’m sure they can assist you with this.

Hello there, did you have a domain mapping upgrade that perhaps you let expire? Here’s what I get when I check the Domain Helper:
No Domain Mapping Found
There is no domain mapping upgrade for ursularidens.com. If you would like to use this domain you will first need to set up domain mapping. -

Thank you both. I’ve always used a free wordpress account. I looked at the domain mapping like you suggested and it seems I have to pay for the upgrade or a yearly fee . I don’t want an upgrade, I just want it to work as it was when I wasnt paying anything. Is there a way to do that?

Hello again, mapping a custom domain like ursularidens.com to a WordPressdotcom site like ursularidens.wordpress.com has always been a paid upgrade, even when it was a standalone upgrade, which is no longer available.
You should be able to see your previous billing for domain mapping in your Billing History at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing

Ok. I don’t recall paying anything in the past. The billing history is blank. I only see options to go as far back as feb 2017. I’d like to see when and how much I paid in the past.

Then let’s wait for Staff to reply to this thread, as @joerepublic has tagged it for their attention.

Hi ursularidens,
Within the last 1-2 months my website won’t display.
It appears the name servers for your domain were changed recently. In January, they were still pointing to GoDaddy but they are now pointing to WordPress.com. This is likely to the reason your domain is no longer working as expected.

There are no purchases listed on the account you are replying from now (ursularidens). When you say you can see options to back to as as February 2017, what do you mean? Do you see an upgrade?
GoDaddy says the “DNS isn’t matching up”, the domain is pointing to the WordPress site, and that the issue is with WordPress.
ursularidens.com is pointed to WordPress.com but there is no domain mapping upgrade. At the moment you only have one part of the ‘connection’ — the domain won’t successfully point to WordPress.com until domain mapping has been added to your site. This upgrade is only available through a paid plan and the Personal plan is the cheapest option if you are upgrading in order to map a domain.
