Weekly Photo Challenge and blog – problems

  • Unknown's avatar

I am having difficulty in posting the blogs for the weekly photo challenge. This week I uploaded a photo before writing the blog, and discovered that there was no space to write. I could not find how to add the script after uploading the photo. So I sent it to the trash and started over (I thought). I wrote the blog, then added photos. I noticed there was no option for the tag anywhere on the right side, which had been there before. When I published the blog and went to view it, it was added as a New Page, not a blog.

I am not finding this easy to figure out. How can I change this New Page to a Blog?

How can I change this New Page to a Blog?

Pages and Posts are completely different.

Pages sit outside the blog structure and are for static content that rarely changes. They cannot have Categories or Tags assigned to them; only Posts can. There is no automatic way to move the text in a page to a post or visa versa. You have to copy and paste.

I’m posting this link to the learn WordPress.com tutorial prepared by Staff for newcomers for you. I also recommend becoming familiar with the support documentation. Note that the search box there will provide results from both the docs and from forum threads too.

Thank you. It is frustrating when you do something wrong and then can’t correct it. I guess I made the first mistake by posting a picture before the text. There was no way to enter the text from that point. I trashed what I had done and clicked on “new post”. It sent me to a “new page” instead, and I didn’t realize that’s what happened until it was too late to change it. I suppose I could copy my text for the “new page” and paste it into a new blog? I’m wondering if I will be able to delete that page and start over on the pictures. This is all so much work. Back to the drawing board….. Thanks again.

Posting an image first is not problematic. Edit the Page. Switch to the HTML editor and copy everything. Then start a new Post and paste all of that into the HTML editor in the new Post. After you have the post published simply go back to the Page and delete it.

O.K. here’s a new challenge. I was able to copy and paste the “New page” text into a new blog, and then re-upload the pictures (although the original version was better – these seem to be a mishmash). Now how do I delete the “New Page” that I don’t want?
