Weekly stats show week 53 for last year
-
Weird display on my weekly stat chart: up until Dec 31st it showed stats for week 52, then it started to show stats for a new week – week 53! I start counting my week from Monday, so this shouldn’t be happening. Anyone else notice this?

This should be happening, because it is indeed week 53.

However I’ve never seen it break off a week in the middle. It’s counting one week as only four days long.

But it surely shouldn’t be week 53 of 2010!

trickstar,
That picture is interesting. Today my weekly stats show week …2009-52, 2009-53, 2010-01. According to time and calendar standards that’s how it should be. 2009 has 53 weeks, 2015 has 53 weeks, 2020 has 53 weeks.

@trickstar I don’t see 2010-53 in your stats. If it’s there it’s a bug. I see 2009-53.
Week 53 is not a bug. A year is not exactly 52 weeks.

@tellyworth well, it’s gone now, that’s why i’ve made this screenshot, because it definitely has been there at some point.
a week 53 is no problem for me, but visitors from the future are :D

tsp,
A year has 365 days, 52 weeks + 1 day. Which means that there is always some day(s) of the old year that falls into either the “1st” week of the new year or the “53rd” week of the old year. If the old year has 4 days or more in the week the new year starts, by definition that is the 53rd week of the old year; if the the old year has 3 days or less in the week the new year starts, that is the 1st week of the new year. That’s why 2009 has 53 weeks by calendar standards.
