weird author view stats

I’ve noticed recently that my author views in stats are unnaturally high. Today’s is at 164, but I have only been on my site 4 times today, and have done nothing in particular – no new posts, no changes to anything on the site.

I don’t know why this is happening or what I might have done. I’ve changed my password and put in 2-stage authentication, but still I have author views registered even when I haven’t been on it all day.

    Any pointers?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

And today when I clicked on my site for the first time, my author views were already at 39.

Hi! The “Author Views” stat is referring to the amount of times a post by a certain author was viewed in a given day, not how many times that author visited the site. If you were running a multi-author blog, you could get an idea of the day’s views broken out by author.

For example, an author view of 40 could be interpreted as:

    > Today, there were 40 total views on posts by the specific author.

If a user views the homepage or another archive page (which contain multiple posts and hence aren’t authored by one specific person), it won’t count towards these totals.

I hope that helps to clarify! There’s a bit more on this here:
