Weird message apparently from WordPress
-
Howdy guys. I got the message below in my inbox (in portuguese), asking me to redefine my username and my password, they sent a link where I could do that. It was sent by
“WordPress.com <[email removed]>” . The whole message header follows the message text. Is this a true/valid message sent by WordPress? How could I tell this is so? If this is really a true message (I do not believe it is), I would suggest you to post those messages somewhere inside our dashboards, to avoid spam, phishing and so. Cheers,

Never a good idea to post your email address in the forums, unless you enjoy getting lots of spam.
There’s really nothing the forum volunteers can do to help here. I’d take this straight to Support http://support.wordpress.com/contact/
-
It does look like a legit message from wordpress. My best guess is that someone with a similar username tried to access their blog, but typed it wrong (using the OP’s username instead) and (wrongly) asked for a reset-of their password. Anyhow, Support is probably a better place to ask than in this forum.

That is the correct email and all for them, but that’s no guarantee it’s not spoofed somehow. Definitely contact Support directly.
-
zeluisbraga, this is a password reset message. It can’t be posted inside the dashboard because it’s intended for someone who has lost their password and can’t log in.
Most likely someone asked to reset their password but by mistake entered your username instead of theirs. It has harmless; there is no effect unless you click on the link in the message (in which case you’d be sent a new password).
