weird string appears in valid WordPress update emails

When we get notices to update our core or plugins, the link comes like this: ‘http://email.emails.fincalapaloma.com.co/c/eJwVjcsOgyAUBb9GluSKUGTBotryH5dXS8LDKl3076vJzGqSc7y2CrxVJGkGowIJDMQk2UxH-lhWMIsxnIPkz9UMHELBlA8aU3WYccPcClLXyil5ayEFm6NSk4TA-BTVpWSANxW5E4pk_e59G6b7wMyJC7XvmF3qP2s_1w7Z9dG_PrXzq7aMJfiEPhzpVa_8B9PBNUQ to WordPress 5.2.2.’

We have no knowledge of email.emails.fincalapaloma.com, or website is centralcitybbq.com. Everything in the email is correct, except the url link. The host couldn’t find anything wrong – but when you click on the links, it does not bring you to the site (obviously) but to an error page on fincalapaloma – a suspended site. I manage over 100 WP sites and have never seen anything like it…SOS :)

Correction: “OUR SITE IS centralcitybbq.com” (Not “or site is…”)

  • Hi there,

Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We cannot help with this in the WordPress.com forums.
