Weird WordPress cookies – what are they?
-
I found a couple of weird cookies that are apparently from WordPress.com and wondered if anyone can tell me what they are for? (Or should I ask support?)
The cookies names are:
optimizelyEndUserID
and
optimizelyBuckets
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is probably a question for staff. I’ll tag this thread for their attention as it would be nice to have the answer here in the forums.
-
We use Optimizely to try out new features on the site and measure how people use them to decide if we should keep them or not.
In case you’re worried, Optimizely does not share personally identifiable information: http://www.optimizely.com/privacy

Many thanks thesacred path for tagging the thread, and macmanx for the info. So if I delete them it’s not going to do any harm to my blog?
One other question… why does WordPress need a separate cookie per comment? There are so many of them, it’s doing my head in! -

Sorry for the delay, I was just about to answer your question when my computer crashed and was out of action for days, and then I just forgot!Looking at the cookies I have presently (and I’ll delete them in a while) I have:
