We’re planning to move from wix to WordPress

    So, We want the exact same domain that we had it in Wix. Our domain hosting company is differnet and Should we have to host it on WordPress? and Shall we fisrt create a site using another domain and we can change it to our original domain? Reply me ASAP Thanks

    To add your existing domain purchased somewhere else to your WordPress.com site there are two ways to do that:
    1. Transferring the domain to WordPress.com
    – If you have purchased the domain more than 60 days ago then you can transfer that domain to WordPress.com. In this, you will be able to manage your hosting and domain both with WordPress.com.

    2. Mapping your existing domain with WordPress.com site
    -If you want to keep the domain with the existing registrar then you can just use the domain mapping features of WordPress.com

    To add a custom domain to your WordPress.com site you must be under one of the paid plans of WordPress.com. Please refer to the link below to know more about the plan pricing and features:

    – You can easily create a free site first with the free site URL having .wordpress.com in the end. After that, you can easily upgrade your site to a paid plan to add a custom domain and then you can transfer or map your existing domain to your site easily.

    Hi there,

    Shall we fisrt create a site using another domain and we can change it to our original domain?

    Create a site by going to https://wordpress.com/start/site/ and following the steps there. This process will automatically create a free example.wordpress.com domain you can use until you’re ready to switch over your domain from Wix.

    Once that site is created, you can go to My Site ->Tools ->Import to import existing content from your Wix site.

    Once the content has been migrated and you have the WordPress.com site set up the way you want, you can then follow the steps above to either transfer your domain to us, or to connect it using our domain mapping upgrade.
