West 9th St Block Association website

  Over 5 years ago somebody set up the site west9thstreet.wordpress.com for our organization, the West 9th Street Block Association. The people involved have moved away and nobody who is now running the group has any idea how to get into the account. How can we either update or shut down this website?

  Hey there,

  If you aren’t able to provide an email from the email address with which the blog was registered, a PayPal transaction ID, or the original activation link, I’m afraid we won’t be able to help you recover the account.

  We have a strict policy in place to protect our users from third parties who might try to use our support system to gain access to other users’ accounts.

  However, if there’s personal information on your blog, I would be happy to set it to private for you so search engines and users can’t access it – just let me know.

  Basically we don’t want an old website that is now stale to be out there. We had one instance of a new resident on our block who saw the site, sent us a check for membership and then freaked out because he didn’t hear back right away (hey this is a 501c3 and we are all volunteers) and stopped the check. It was a mess. The problem is this: the site has our name on it but none of us can update it so it would be better if we could just make it go away. If making it private is the only way to keep it from appearing then that would be the best thing. We will never be able to access the site ourselves, unless the original person that set it up comes back and tells us, which I highly doubt will happen.
  So please, if you can make this account private so people won’t stumble upon it and have similar issues we would really appreciate it. Let me know if there is anything WE need to do although I can’t imagine how we could do anything!

  No problem! I have set the site to private so that no one will be able to access the site and it will no longer show up in search engines.
