What

Since last night, I have lost the sidebar with all it’s contents – no widgets. no videos, no awards, no pictures. The background on my last two personal posts – is translucent, because of this the words don’t show up.
Please fix this ASAP … now my blog is messed up.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What’s happened to my sidebar & the appearance of my main page?

  • Unknown's avatar

I can reblog other posts and it seems ok. Still when I go to my main page, the sidebar continues to be gone.

When I logged in about 30mins ago, it was fine. Now it’s gone away again.
    Please, help!!!

Hi there. I’m still waiting ….. haven’t received any feedback. At least to know that someone’s gotten this ticket.

    Thank you!

Sidebars and widgets in them do not fall to the bottom and display below posts and/or posts do not appear in sidebars unless

    (1) content has been imported into the blog

    (2) the blogger has been copying and pasting content from elsewhere, without using either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text

    (3) or the blogger has copied and pasted invalid HTML into a text widget or left an HTML tag open

After you go here and enable this > Settings > Writing
    Formatting
_ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically
    “save changes”

Your blog is also loading like a pig in molasses going uphill. Here is the speed test for loading your blog:

Your website is slower than 78% of all tested websites
    http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/9hk5u/http://hrexach.wordpress.com/

This is not an issue created by the software. It’s a blogger created issue.

These are the ways to reduce page loading time:

    1. Edit posts and insert “the more tag” so only excerpts appear on the front page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

    2. Reduce the number of posts appearing on the front page here > Settings > Reading
Blog pages show at most _ posts

    3. Reduce the number of images and or media embeds displayed and/or make them smaller.

    4. Reduce the number of widgets in the sidebar and footer areas.

Also note this a useful guide for the Twenty Eleven theme.

none of the above, I think! …..

The whole sidebar, with all it’s bars is gone. I don’t know how to fix it. Some bloggers have tried … but it’s still the same.

You know, I’m sad to say …. from what you have written so far …. seems I’m really a newbie.

I don’t know how to do the things that you have instructed me.

  • Unknown's avatar

Work through each one – one step at a time please because I cannot do this for you.

Go here and enable this > Settings > Writing
    Formatting
_ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically
    “save changes”

The blog was working fine yesterday. There was nothing wrong with it. I have not done anything different on my side. I want this fixed up the way it was before some changes started on your side.

Please, fix it … I need this done ASAP. I don’t need to go through these steps bc I don’t think it applies. Just get it back to the way it was before. I haven’t changed anything from this end.

If it can’t be done through you, tell me who I need to contact.

  • Unknown's avatar

… and I need this done now. I haven’t been able to blog at all today because of this.

I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Staff work through all forum threads tagged for their attention and through all email support tickets in order of datestamps and timestamps – first posted first served, as would be expected.

How long it takes to clear the threads and support tickets depends on how many Happiness Engineers are working on them at any given point in time. It also depends on how complex the issues in each thread and ticket are are.

Don’t bump your thread here by posting into it again because it’s not in your best interest to post to it after it has been tagged for Staff help. If you do that, or if you create a new thread, or if you email Staff the timestamp moves forward and it takes longer to get help.

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m still being nice … please, fix it, fix it … FIX IT!! It’s not on me. It’s on you.

I’ve tried support one time b4 and it wasn’t very helpful. :-(

It’s your end, not mine. Again, all was well until late PM yesterday.

  • Unknown's avatar

The issues on your blog appear to blogger created issues that are cumulative in nature. I am not in position to fix anything. I have tagged this thread for Staff assistance. They will address this thread as soon as they respond to all threads tagged for their attention before this one was tagged.

  • Unknown's avatar

I don’t have the time to sit here and wait on your responses. I have to get things done, I have appts. to keep. With that said, I expect my blog to be back to the way it was when I do come back and check on it.

I would appreciate that this is expedited. I continue to try to be civil and say thank you …. but by blogging has been hampered today by whatever it is that you have decided to get done on your side.

  • Unknown's avatar

There is no way to expedite getting Staff help. You will have to wait in line along with everyone else.

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m sorry to say that the issues that I have can’t be blogger created bc I haven’t changed anything on it. This all started when
This seems to me that this issue was created by you (WordPress) and not the blogger.

So I will be back later to check. Please, get this done.

  • Unknown's avatar

@hrexach – if possible please try to be patient and wait for a staff member to get back to you. They will definitely get you fixed up.

I took a quick look and your sidebar is still there, but it is being pushed below your main content. You appear to have infinite scroll enabled in JetPack, so I had to disable JavaScript in order to see your sidebar.

I could not find anything that would cause your sidebar to get pushed down, but there are a lot of errors that are popping up in the browser console.

You don’t appear to have any custom styles enabled so, for what it’s worth, I’d also agree that this does not appear to be user error.

One thing to note, WordPress 4.0 is rolling out, so this might explain your recent issues.

Either way, rest assured that you will definitely get the help that you need.

All the best, very sorry for your troubles.

  • Unknown's avatar

I repeat that I cannot do anything for you. I provided the instructions you need above for fixing the fallen sidebar issue and for reducing page loading time on your blog. I also tagged this thread for Staff and explained that every time you post into it you move the timestamp forward so it will take longer to get Staff help. It’s in your best interest to act on what I posted and help yourself, rather than posting here to give me or anyone else orders. Hopefully, you understand that now.
