    Could you share a bit more about what you’d like to do? For example, are you hoping to switch from Twenty Thirteen to a modern block theme with a similar feel, or were you mainly asking if Twenty Thirteen itself is considered modern?

    To clear things up: Twenty Thirteen is one of our older Classic themes. Classic themes were created before the WordPress block editor existed, so they work a little differently. Their customization happens mainly through Appearance → Customize, and the layout and structure are mostly set by the theme. They’ve been reliable for many years, but they don’t include the same flexibility and design options (like full-width layouts) that modern block themes do.
