What Am I doing Wrong??

    I have added a navigation menu, however when I try to add anything to it the post shows up in the wrong area as well as the Navigation area. I also am having major issues with categories. I had a word press site years ago and it seems like it was much more simpler to program. Why don’t the categories show up in post and Pages like they use to years ago?
    What I want is to have several sections. One for news stories, one for helpful websites and one for a author (the mother) to blog.
    Any idea of what I am doing wrong? This is for a charity…

    Hi,

    Your site is set on private, so volunteers such as myself can’t view it. However, I’ll try to answer some of your questions.

    I have added a navigation menu, however when I try to add anything to it the post shows up in the wrong area as well as the Navigation area.

    The navigation area, i.e. the menu, only displays menu items that either link to something or link to nothing. A custom menu won’t display any items that haven’t been added to it, other than perhaps a couple of default links that might have been present at the site’s creation. A menu cannot affect where a post displays. So I’m not sure what you mean.

    Why don’t the categories show up in post and Pages like they use to years ago?

    Do you mean that if you assign a category to a post, then a link to that category doesn’t display in the metadata of the post, typically found at the top or bottom of the post, depending upon the theme?

    If so, then I’d suggest you add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar at right in this topic to call for staff attention. If you do so, then staff will respond here.

    Sorry, that’s not correct. A menu item can affect where a post is displayed. What do you mean when you say that a post displays in the wrong area? And what do you mean when you that a post displays in the Navigation area?
