What are hits? :/
-
I was searching this on Google and found this
“In Internet research, this is a measure of the number of files downloaded. If a web page has 20 image files attached, that is 21 hits – even though only the user has accessed only one page. Page view is a more useful measure from an audience point of view.”
http://www.audiencedialogue.org/gloss-media.htmlIs this true?
Simply put, what is this “hits” on blog stats???

It’s pretty accurate. When you’re looking at your blog stats what it’s showing is the number of individual views on your blog rather than the number of people who have read it. For instance, if someone reads one of my posts, then checks my about page and clicks across to my contact page, that counts as 3 hits, even though it’s only 1 person reading the blog.
It also means that for every comment you get on your blog, you’re getting two views of the post; once as someone reads it, then again as the page reloads after they comment. So if you get 20 views on a post and 5 comments, that means that 10 of those views are from the same people. That’s why the stats can be a little misleading.
I wouldn’t worry about it too much, though. The most important thing is just to have good content; the stats can be useful (and addictive!) but they don’t tell the whole story. Hope that helps and these FAQs might help too. :)
