What are “Pages ID” ?

    Hello
I have been trying to find the answer to this in both the faq and forums and I just could not.
    Here is my blog: sunnisme.wordpress.com
I am using the “pages” widget and I would like it not to show all the pages but just some of them ( as I already have the main ones as headers at the top of the blog). So in the page widget, I noticed there is a something called “Exclude” and then itis asking me to enter the pages ids, separated by commas. I have tried with the titles, the page order, and the slug, and none of them all would exclude the pages I wanted to exclude. So my question is: what is the page ID I am supposed to enter in there to make sure some pages are excluded from the list? Is this one of the “theme dependent” features? I notice that the “Can I sort my pages?” faq does NOT explain this, not does it refer to the third option called “by page ID” so it might be good to add the answer to this question there. If this has been resolved already a link should do I guess( but including the answer in the FAQ would still be good). Thanks a lot, Sincerely.

You need to go to Dashboard > Manage > Pages. You’ll see a list of all the pages you’ve posted and one of the options on the left is ID. Say you want to exclude your About page, you’d copy the page’s ID (not the title) and then copy that into the space in the widget. I agree it’s not as clear as it could be (I can’t see an FAQ either), but that’s basically all you have to do. Hope that helps. :)
