what are the advantages of using domain mapping?

    I already have domain forwarding from my domain (dicksonbrown.com) to my blog using my registrar’s tools …are there any advantages of using wordpress.com domain mapping over what’s already in place?

    Yes: as far as I know, it won’t work without the WP.com domain mapping upgrade.

DNS error occurred. Server cannot be found. The link may be broken.

    If you use our domain mapping upgrade, all of the URLs for posts and pages will use the domain instead of the blogname.wordpress.com domain. It also makes it easier to move your blog if you ever decide to leave WordPress.com because you’ll be able to keep all of the same URLs.

    I reckon it might help with understanding my stats …however are there any SEO advantages as far as the likes of Google are concerned?
