What are the differences among page templates?

  What are the differences among page templates? For example, Sadish Mistylook how does archive page template differ from links page template?

  The archive template (if chosen) shows all the months of posts and categories. It is another way to show people your archives other than the sidebar. The links template just creates a nice looking replication of your blogroll!

  I am busy trying to fit http://www.jobamatic.com joblistings into my blog and was wondering if there is a possbility to edit page templates at all? Or to have a page directly linking to another site?
  Any answers greatly appreciated,
