What are the mechanics behind embedding a blog in an external website?
-
I’m a developer (desktop apps, some html) but blogging is new to me (go figure!).
If I create a wordpress blog, and wish to embed it in an external website, what actually is happening and how does it work?
eg: I’m building a Wix site for speed and convenience of getting up and running
Should I expect to be embedding a WP object/app of some kind, expect Wix to supply a WP object or app, embed some html5 in my wix page?
WP instructions make reference to subdomains, which I definitely have never played with before.
Any overview of what’s going on/intended appreciated.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You’re asking in the wrong place. WordPress.com blogs cannot technically be embedded anywhere, though you can scrape an RSS feed.
WordPress.ORG blogs can be embedded, but you need to ask over at WordPress.org for help with that.

You are on your own for “embedding” WordPress.COM sites, that is not supported here.
However, if you want your WordPress.COM blog to be a part of and look like it belongs in your Wix site, you want to map the blog as a sub-domain. I don’t know if Wix supports sub-domains or not. Sub-domains are not too hard to do.
A sub-domain would give the address of something like blog.your-wix-site.com for yoursite.wordpress.com blog $ 13.- / year

Ya, that’s definitely what’s being suggested, but I have no experience of sub-domains.
No worries if I have to go and look it up, but bottom line is, how do I say (in a generic html/html5 site for example) ‘put the blog here’.
If it was an image or object, I’d be inserting an image or object html tag.
Thx for the info though, at least it shows what I need to learn about!
