What are the pros / cons of transferring a domain from Namecheap vs just mapping it?

  I bought my domains from Namecheap recently and am now building the sites themselves on WP. I don’t understand the relative pros/cons of transferring the domains to WP or mapping them over. Can anyone help?

  Hi there!

  If you transfer the domain to WordPress.com, we’ll manage the domain and you’ll be able to edit it directly from ypur WordPress.com account. You’ll pay for the mapping and the plan here (domain is included within the plan price for the first year).

  But, if you keep the domain with your current registrar and map the domain to WordPress.com, your current registrar will continue to manage the domain and you’ll still need to pay them for it.
