What are there in the form of reader widgets?

By way of introduction, now that I have finally managed to return to the USofA, I am in the process of convincing my tidy little cadre of about 80 writers to get their stuff together and blog, especially to introduce their new works. I have considered sawing off a piece of an LPAR on one of my machines and either bringing up Wprdpress or a Wiki there.

Now, what I think would be kewl is having a reader along the lines of the one that PediaPress uses. I had a couple of my guys do a litle RE on the thing and there really isn’t that much to it. However, because Joe’s Rule One is “Do not try solving problem you do not have”, and Rule Two is “Do not muddy the water around you for you may have to drink it soon” I thought lobbing one your way might be the best way to start.

Now, I know there is the Acrobat Reader, but that doesn’t deploy in some places it should, and I’m sure that there is some ODT gizmo somewhere, and there is always ZIM. Point is, shlepping 200+ page solething-ML’s on to your servers isn’t the answer, at least I hope not, because writers are a skittish lot, and the possibility of getting ‘robbed’ is the one reason more aren’t as bloggy as they shopuld be.

    This affiant sayeth no more.

  • Really, none of that is much of an option here at WordPress.com.

You can of course upload PDFs and other documents, but the browser’s reader will display it. There’s no way to provide your own reader.
