What are these green things at the top of Digg 3?
-
Hello friends –
I use Digg 3 column which has a bunch of green lables with the title of pages (are these “tags” made real, or do they have another name?) The problem is that most are hidden, and only flash up for a microsecond when I switch to the Home page. How can I make them mor visible?
Another: If a hidden page is tagged, are those tags functional as search aids?

“These green things” are your page tabs. It’s a design flaw of Digg 3: once your page tabs get past what can fit in a single row, the rest is covered by the header image. (I had sent a note to Support re. this months ago, they thanked me and said they’d tell the designer; apparently the designer hasn’t heard them yet.)
Two solutions: a) Make several of your pages “child” pages by assigning them to “parents” (if your subjects allow for such a hierarchy). b) Since you’ve got the pages widget in your sidebar, the header tabs are redundant anyway: switch to a better theme, with no header tabs.
As for tags, only posts can be tagged, not pages.

Thank you – That helps me. Can a hidden post have “active” tags which are functional as search aids?

You’re welcome.
Perhaps I should clarify something re solution “a” above: I suggested it (in case you want to stick to the theme you’re using) because child pages won’t show up in the header; note that they WILL display in the sidebar, however (under their parents, usually indented or otherwise distinguished).
But if you don’t want or cannot have such a hierarchy, then Digg 3 with its problem is not for you, hence solution “b” – of course also because I don’t see the point in having the same list twice.
There are also themes that do display pages in the header properly. But to me such a large number of overlong header tabs is neither elegant nor practical.
As for your new question, you’re still confusing posts with pages: pages cannot be tagged (or categorized), and posts cannot be hidden.
Why so many pages, really, instead of posts? (Why, for instance, a POST on back pain but a PAGE on broken legs?) If your intention is having a visible list of all your titles, there other ways of achieving it.

I was thinking the same thing re: posts and pages. Perhaps looking at the FAQ will help http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/11/a-post-and-a-page/

Thank you panaghiotisadam and vivianpaige – You are helping me to find my way. Yes, my intention was to have a visible list, and the post concept, as I understand it, is a chronological succession, with earlier post becomming hidden. I suppose what I want is really a book. You are quite correct in that there is no real logic in the seperation of titles, excet I have posted those titles which are most suitable for categorisation. I did not realise that child pages showed up on the sidebar. This is obviously preferable, as some headings logically overarch several sub-headings.
