What Constitutes an Advert?

  I understand that image ads and banner ads are not permitted by wordpress.

  If I post an image that does carry an outbound link (in other words, when you click on it it nothing happens), could this still be considered an advert by WP?

  Probably… If the banner contains a URL (but it is still not clickable), I’d say that’s just the same.

  In fact, every banner that entices someone to go to an external site (clickable, or mentioning a URL, instructions where to go on the web, etc.), would constitute as an advertisement to me. There’s probably some legalities about it (anything that would encourage someone to spend money on something, directly or indirectly), but I’d say that you could probably figure out for yourself if something is an ad or not. I suggest not to “cheat”.
