What do I do about my notifications tool not working properly?

  My comments notification tool, (in upper right hand corner of tool bar), isn’t working. It notifies me of new ‘likes’ but not new comments.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? It has worked for me in the past if the notifications become glitchy. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

  Hello. I just tried what you suggested and also defrag and did a disc clean-up, too. Yesterday, I received some notifications for responses to comments I made on people’s blogs but I’m still not receiving notifications for comments on my blog posts, (even after the clearing of browser cache and cookies).

  Maybe if I sign out and reboot after all the clearing…maybe that will work?

  This wouldn’t be caused by your hard drive, so defragging and the like won’t make any difference.

  Can you please let us know exactly which browser and version you’re using? Then I can tag this for staff to take a look if something else might be causing this. Use this link to find your browser info: https://www.whatismybrowser.com/

  Oh, good…thank you for clarifying about the hard drive etc.

  My browser and version is: Chrome 42 on Windows 8.1

  I understand your comment notifications aren’t showing up in the notification dropdown. Are you receiving email notices of comments, or no notices at all?

  Thank you for tagging this for staff and thank you, Liz for responding.

  The comment notification dropdown box is notifying of ‘likes’ and responses to comments I’ve made on other people’s blogs but it is not notifying of new comments on my blog.

  I have been receiving notifications of new comments in my email, though.

  Come to think of it, I’ve also experienced this. The email notification comes through, but if I log on to WordPress the comment notifications, while appearing in the drop-down, are marked as already read even though I’ve not yet clicked on them, and the notification icon is grey unless there are likes or follows also waiting. It happens intermittently, though.
