What do I get purchasing the Traveler Theme in terms of customization?
-
I am considering purchasing the Traveler Theme, but not sure it will cover what I need and I can’t find all the information I need from your support site or forum.
I basically want to be able to customize css and install other widgets than the ones you offer already. In the basic plan that I have right now I can’t find the usual upload function of widgets I am hoping that will change if I purchase your services. Here are my questions:
Can I install my own widgets, if I purchase the Traveler theme?
Is there a right sidebar widget area in the Traveler theme?
Do I have to purchase the Custom Design before I can css customize the Traveler theme any way I want?
What is the difference between the yearly $30 Custom Design feature and the yearly $79 Premium plan? That there is no email support for the Custom Design plan? And what about widgets, does any of the plans include that I can install my own widgets, AND control whether I want a widget area activated on a page or not? Right now, I can’t remove the sidebar widgets all together. I can only add other widgets, so the default ones go away, but I have a blank, gaping space in the sidebar area now. I’d much rather have the content area filling the full length of the main content area (960 pixel).
I appreciate your response. Thanks.

Hi Katherine –
Can I install my own widgets, if I purchase the Traveler theme?
This isn’t possible regardless of upgrade, but what widgets do you want to add? We might have a built-in feature that does the same thing, or you might be able to create them using a Text widget.
Is there a right sidebar widget area in the Traveler theme?
No, the Traveler theme is full width and has a sidebar in the footer area. Most of our themes have a right sidebar, however:

It depends on the type of customization that you want to do. Most of our themes have some free customization options – you can typically upload your own header image, change some colors, upload a custom background, and sometimes there are layout choices (right or left sidebar, for example).
Then, if you upgrade to Custom Design, you can change the fonts, you have additional color customization options, and you can edit your theme’s CSS:

The Premium upgrade gives you a number of different upgrades, including the ability to upload audio and video, as well as the Custom Design upgrade. You can read more about what’s included in the Premium upgrade here:
http://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/pro-bundle/Just click the links in the sidebar to read more about each individual upgrade that is included.
Support works the same as it does now for you, as long as you have at least one upgrade.
Right now, I can’t remove the sidebar widgets all together. I can only add other widgets, so the default ones go away, but I have a blank, gaping space in the sidebar area now.
I’d check out various themes that have a full-width option:
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/full-width-template/Forever has one, actually, but only for static pages; not for the posts page.
You might like Triton Lite — it’s similar to Traveler on the front page, and then it has an optional sidebar on the individual posts pages:
