what do you want to see fixed or improved?
-
blumoon: i’ve typed searches before and it showed up, even words in the content of the post – try it again and see if it works? if not it’s a trip to the feedback form
-
How or why does one get blacklisted? A day or two back I noticed timethief’s name coming up on this forum in black and unlinkable – now she’s blue. Is this a new feature? And how did does one get off the blacklist?
-
haha it’s not a blacklist – a blacklist would mean that she’s not allowed to participate in the forums would she?
the black colour username just means that she has chosen not to disclose her blog url. if you’re blue it’s the link to your blog url that’s all. you can be blue or black whatever you like

@forestneeds
I have more than one blog so if I change my profile to reflect more than one blog as I did the other day then what happens is my name is not linked to a particular blog and it appears as black in the forum. If people click on “member” below my name then my profile comes up where the blogs are listed and they can choose which one to click on (poltical/environmental or spiritual/personal).IMO this is an important feature because while helping people on the forum last night I clicked on two names and I ran into “mature” content blogs. That’s a polite way of saying *PORNO* or *SMUT* blogs. Understand that I’m not referring to blogs where naked human bodies are being presented artistically. Instead I am referring to those where human bodies are being presented as objects, as *MEAT* for the purposes of sexual titallation.
One was using objectifying and equating naked female with automobiles. One was operating under the pretense of being a cutesy “teeny” ebay shopping blog but the links to it where not to “teeny” material at all and the comments revealed the true purpose of the blog. The third one depicted explicit sexual activity and not just nudity.
Why on earth WordPress would provide a free blog to these *SMUT* bloggers is beyond me. So back to your “blacklisted” name question forestneeds. Do we need a blacklisted system? My answer is: yes.
(1) *SMUTBLOGS* are supposed to be declared to staff by their owners because they are *NOT* “work safe” and they are offensive to some people, like me. Once declared they can be labeled as “mature” (how ironic!)
(2)The owners of these *SMUTBLOGS* labeled as mature should *NOT* be name linked to their blogs on the forum.
(3) These *SMUTBLOGS* should also *NOT* be included in the wordpress category tagging system. And that’s where I happened upon the third and most offensive one of the three.
I reported all three last night to feedback. And drmike reports the ones he finds on a daily basis.

Actually I don’t see that many but I do report the ones that I do. I do believe they do get taged though.
It’s actually works out bad for the blog owner to have their blog tagged as mature since they loose out on being able to get their categories in the tags list. I really don’t see anyone doing this volentarily.
While I have backend access here in the forums, I do not have the ability to modify the links. I actually would rather not have that ability to be honest.

yes, i’ve just remembered:
1. pls upgrade the manage comments section in dashboard; right now, i cannot see beyond the first twenty comments and if i want to find them, i have to use the search box or find through the archives. but what if i have trouble remembering the e-mail or uri and can’t use the search box? at least allow the search box to search usernames, at the very least. and it’s ridiculous to find through the archives if i have been blogging over 100 posts…
2. have a mass edit function for various edits, like editing of posts categories, or comments, or deletion of posts and comments, etc etc.
that’s it.
for now… =P
(thanks for reading.)

I’m getting confused about what’s on topic here and what should be discussed over here in ‘ideas’ at: http://wordpress.com/forums/forum.php?id=1
So dont mind me, but besides us reporting splogs (spam blogs)- which wordpress wants us to report, there’s a category of blog that sells anything from weight loss products or sex play toys to real estate or financial services ( and these are separate from those that merely discuss those things in general ) – does wordpress.com have any preference on hosting or not hosting commercial blogs. And how can we help. And, please may I have my dashboard’s ‘lastest posts’ section back.
-
forestneeds: the thread title is pretty much self-explanatory, isn’t it? the reason why i initially did not place this thread under ideas is because i felt that i’m asking other wp users to list whatever bugs they would like to see fixed or stg improved on, so that’s kind of like a thread under support, i felt.
i don’t have any problems with my latest posts in dashboard…
-
I see latest posts on my Dashboard. The 20 boxes along the bottom, right?
*chuckle* Must be nice getting more than 20 comments in a normal day. :)
-
Yep sulz, the thread title is self-explanatory – and it could include ideas for fixing or improving things ( and that doesnt include doing that to my intelligence; or my sense or humour, which you cant do much about). The thread appears to have capabilities of overlap between ideas and support fora. It’s cool by me to have it here – I’m one of those people who dont have any reason to go over to the ideas forum anyway. Aroha nui.

I would like to get the error fixed which turns off the Search Engines checkbox under Options each time a post is made to some blogs.
Is this an error or is it somehow being done by design?
-
I would like some method where I can reach thru the monitor and whack a few users once in a while. Not hard or anything but it comes up from time to time. :)
-
OMG not whacking pullease – anything but whacking ;) [Pulling on her helmet and ensuring her face shield is down and firmly in place she tenatively enquired]. What on earth do you mean quotes?
-
-
No! No! she said. Excuse me but you’re misunderstanding me twice over.
(1) I thought it might be me that you wanted to whack.;)
(2) quotes said: I would like to get the error fixed which turns off the Search Engines checkbox under Options each time a post is made to some blogs.

What on earth did quotes mean?
-
drmike: anyone in particular you want to demonstrate physical action on?
forestneeds: you must be quite new to the forum (?) because most threads with anything more than 20 posts would deviate from the title thread to some degree or other – as they (whoever they are) say, it’s all cool, just go with flow. there’s only so much one can talk about the title thread, right?
-
>> timethief >> What on earth do you mean quotes?
There is this chronic problem:
The original thread is here:
Cronic Search Engines Setting Error
http://wordpress.com/forums/topic.php?id=2789&replies=17Basically, for a subset of blogs, when a post is made, every time, the checkbox for “Search Engines” gets turned off. It has to be turned back on manually every time a post is made or the blog just vanishes from the search engines and from WP.com tags.
-
@quotes – I thought when a person did not check the checkbox for “search engines” that they were doing so to maintain stealth. In other words that they did not wish their blog to be found by search engines and therefore were not assigning it any categories or “tags”. I had no idea about the technical end of things and hoe they do or do not work. To me it sounds like that’s what you’re addressing – the technical aspect. Or am I just dense? If I’m just not getting your point please be patient – I’m trying to understand.
-
quotes – I think I can see you and hear you. Is that you banging your forehead on the ground and tearing your hair out while shouting how stupid can this tt chick be? :D Okay so now I’ve got it. You are making a bug report in this thread. Your theme is Connections (which is apparently Matt’s baby) and it is manifesting this annoyinng bug. You have reported this through feedback but received no satisfaction. It’s still happening. Right?
