what do you want to see fixed or improved?

  • Unknown's avatar

TT: no, just went a way for a while.

Yes, correct, it is still happening. and yes I have reported it several times through feedback and am wondering if my e-mail is not getting to them for some reason

If it is specific to particular themes then what I know so far is this:

Connections 1.0 by Patricia Muller does not appear to have the bug.

    Ambiru 1.0 has it
    Andreas04 1.0 has it
    Andreas09 1.5 has it
    Dusk 1.1 has it.
    Fleur De Lys has it

I would like to see the ability to update the feed link in the head section of the xhtml to a feedburner link so that browsers will discover the correct feed that you want to be used.

  • Unknown's avatar

jason bent – your feed is working fine
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/jasonintx
if you want to install links to 13 other rss subscription feeds as well you can see an example at the very bottom of the sidebar at http://coyotes.wordpress.com and the instructions are at http://pimpmyblog.wordpress.com

Just in case it hasn’t been mentioned, how about making us trust the visitor counters again? ;) Mine decided to jump back 10% 2 days ago, and the steadily increasing traffic took a plunge.

  • Unknown's avatar

How about fixing the comments box in most themes (and the forum apparently!) so it doesn’t run off the side of the page in IE6?

  • Unknown's avatar

    How about this one:

Click this link to page 83 of the wp.com forums.

It’s suggesting there’s nothing there and just offers a new post page.

I was bored and thought I would go and see what the first ever post on the forum was…

  • Unknown's avatar

timethief, I’m not talking about adding links on the sidebar to a different feed. I’ve already done that: http://jasonintx.wordpress.com . I’m talking about the auto-discovery feed link. It’s what allows browsers and aggregators to automatically detect the RSS feed when you are browsing.

If you to browse my blog with Firefox, Opera, Safari or IE7, clicking on the rss icon in the address bar will prompt you to subscribe to http://jasonintx.wordpress.com/feed/ but I want that changed to http://feeds.feedburner.com/jasonintx

As I stated in the thread about Quote’s issue, I still find it starneg that it appears to be only an issue with his or her setup. Again, I’m wondering if it’s a cache issue with either his or her computer or their ISP. No one else seems to be having this issue. At least that’s been reported here in the forums or over in the WPMU forums.

As to the feedburner issue, I think it’s one of those “They don’t want to make WPMU too complicated for the enduser” items as MU is designed for those who just want to blog.

  • Unknown's avatar

The strangest part is that it is not a problem with all of the blogs. Only a few.

Can you please do something with the highlighting or textgrabbing function (whatever you want to call it)? Right now when I try to highlight a word it grabs not only that word but the space after it as well. This is NOT helpful; who wants their links to have dumb little tails on them? Can we fix this, please?

  • Unknown's avatar

Rain, have you sent in a feedback? First I’ve heard about it around here. Are you sure it’s not a browser issue though? I know I have issues with highlighting in general but that’s just me.

  • Unknown's avatar

I might agree, have the same problems, with some of the requests posted, if I understood them beyond the verbs, prepositions, lol…but since I can’t, I don’t. I do have some problems:

    1. Timestamp: someone, kindly, said they would post How in FAQ (I lost original thread); I did what it said, but I don’t seem able to explain it well enough to get PERMANENT fix. I change the digit to reflect my time zone; it doesn’t stay –there ins’t any “SAVE” button; then time in a post reverts to several hours ahead. How to make time I SET: remain? If a bug: please fix.

    2. Date: ditto
NO matter what I do, current post: reflects tomorrow’s date.

    3. Categories: has a white rectangle over it.
Supposed to be that way? If I fool around awhile I can work out how to add a new category; assign post I’m writing into a category, but I don’t understand the rectangle. A bug or buggy writer?

    4. Leading: can the amount of space between sentences be reduced? Can the font be un-bold? Between the leading and the font my posts wind up looking more like fliers (lol) than pages.

    5. Pointer/throbber: when I want to highlight something I can not see the nearly invisible point where the little pointer is. Can the pointer be given a color/darkened? Anyone know what I’m talking about?

    5. Is it a bug: that I can’t see right side of this window in which I’m typing? Usually names on the left are cut in half, which someone said was due to “fixed width.” That seems most peculiar: shouldn’t WP Want us to be able to see what’s on the page?

Ah well, I look forward to understanding the nouns so well all this will be boring…till that day, TGFTForum….

(PS Original thread: had supportive, kind posts, even though I was cranky-sounding, so thank you. I would have found it and promptly posted reply, but my car caught fire and I’ve been busy; now don’t know where that thread is.)

poppy: 1. the timestamp does not follow your timezone, i’m not sure what timezone it follows either but i think it’s the californian timezone? (because wp is based there i think). anyway to explain it better, when it’s midnight at that zone, it’s 8am at my place. so if i want to make a post appear say on sat 22 july, i edit the timestamp to 0000 22 july but it will only appear at 8am my time. i’m a bit ineloquent here but you should be able to understand me, right? so that’s why your timestamp’s all warped.

    2. that’s why your date’s all messed up too.

i can’t answer the rest because i’m not quite sure what you’re referring to. maybe someone else can help.

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks, Sulz. Are you saying: EACH time you post you have CHANGE your time stamp?
If THAT is what you mean, Oh, OKAY, I’m cool with changing it/not expecting it to remain changed. I THOUGHT it was like Blogger clock: once was enough (lol). I’m in Calif, so if I have re-set to “-8” for every post AND change the date also, I can do it, but I then think there should be a PERMANENT way to set those. No? (–Not counting Daylight SAvings, of course.)

  • Unknown's avatar

yes you have to change it everytime since it the timestamp’s time zone is not default to your timezone in the options setting. it’s not a problem for me because everytime i write a new post the date’s according to the time i’ve written it. it’s only when i want to set the post to appear in the near future at a specific time that i need to edit timestamp.

  • Unknown's avatar

OOOOOOH, Nobody ‘Splained THAT! I Thought: If I changed TIME Once, it would STAY changed. Whew, that Isn’t stated in FAQ. I thought maybe mine had a bug or I just wasn’t understanding ‘How To.’

Sheesh, I swear Every FAQ on the Internet must be written by Male techies!!! Thank YOU for replying, I feel better now.

  • Unknown's avatar

To alter the timezone, you do not need the timestamp box.
That is ONLY if you need to change the published time.
This should be all you need to do and you do it once (bar daylight saving)

How do I set the time zone?

  • Unknown's avatar

it’s not a problem for me because everytime i write a new post the date’s according to the time i’ve written it.

i forgot to add that that’s because my timezone’s 8 hours ahead of the default time zone, which explains why i hardly need to edit my timestamp, unlike poppy whose published post’s time is not the same as her time zone set in the options setting. but if i have posted today and want to publish a new post at 7am my timezone tomorrow, it would still be yesterday’s date (ie. today), as the default time in the post’s timestamp is 8 hours slower.

oh god, i feel so inarticulate.
