What does blocked commenter see when blocked?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have an obnoxious commenter who is obsessed with hassling me on my blog. I would like to block him. But I know from seeing him stalk other people, that if he knows he has been blocked, he escalates his attacks in other ways, like writing inflammatory posts about the victim on his own blog and linking back to their site, and sending them constant confrontational emails. I would like to know, if I block him, what kind of message does he see? I would like a method that gives him as little fuel to his flames as possible…

Any advice on how it goes once a commenter is blocked?

If you block a commenter on WP.com he sees everything. He is able to comment on it. His comments, however, never see the light of day.

Sorry, I did not word my question very well- what I meant was, when he tries to post a comment, does he get a message informing him that he is blocked? Or does he just get the generic “this post is awaiting moderation” kind of message? I would prefer he didn’t get an explicit “you are blocked” message, because I suspect that will incite him even more.

Maybe I will try blocking a fake email address, log out, and try to comment using that address and see what such a user would see.
