What does connecting a domain to WordPress exactly do?

    My website hoster is Hostinger. Since WordPress has more editing options, I would prefer to build the website through WordPress instead of Hostinger Web Builder. What exactly would change if I were to connect domain to WordPress?

    If you already own a domain name with another provider, you can use that domain with your WordPress.com site. Once you complete the steps below, instead of your site address being something like yourgroovysite.wordpress.com, your site’s address will be something like yourgroovydomain.com.     You will be asked to select a domain and then select a plan. Since you are looking to use a custom domain, you will want to select a paid plan. I personally recommend the Premium plan to start.
