What does connecting a domain to WordPress exactly do?
-
My website hoster is Hostinger. Since WordPress has more editing options, I would prefer to build the website through WordPress instead of Hostinger Web Builder. What exactly would change if I were to connect domain to WordPress?
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Hi there, @00pranay!
We would love for you to consider hosting your site here with us at WordPress.com. WordPress.com is a managed host for WordPress sites. Here at WordPress.com, you don’t have to download software, pay for hosting, or manage a web server. You can instead focus on creating unique content and let us handle the rest!
Connecting a domain to WordPress.com means you are updating the name servers on your domain to point to your WordPress.com site. More on how exactly this works here:
If you already own a domain name with another provider, you can use that domain with your WordPress.com site. Once you complete the steps below, instead of your site address being something like yourgroovysite.wordpress.com, your site’s address will be something like yourgroovydomain.com. Follow the steps in this guide to keep your domain registered with your current provider and use it to showYou can actually go ahead and get started by creating a site at https://wordpress.com/start
You will be asked to select a domain and then select a plan. Since you are looking to use a custom domain, you will want to select a paid plan. I personally recommend the Premium plan to start. The Premium plan offers live chat support, great site customization settings, monetization options, and much more.
Let me know if you have any questions!
